Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Time Transfer and Synchronization Engineer to design, implement, and optimize high-precision timing across terrestrial and space-based networks. You will work with PTP/NTP, TWSTFT, GNSS methods and cutting-edge metrology equipment to achieve nanosecond-level accuracy.

You will analyze data, monitor system performance, and collaborate with satellite timing teams and ground gateway operations, contributing to robust timing across distributed infrastructure.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience
• Experience with applying scientific principles to business problems
• Experience analyzing experimental and observational data
• Experience in complex problem solving under tight schedules
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience with time transfer protocols and metrology equipment
• Experience with clock characterization and frequency stability analysis

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and validate time transfer systems using PTP/NTP, TWSTFT, GNSS Common View, or GNSS All in View
• Implement time transfer over RF and optical links
• Evaluate new time transfer technologies to reach nanosecond accuracy
• Design and build an operational system to monitor clock synchronization performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on satellite timing systems and network time synchronization
• Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting of timing systems across distributed infrastructure
