Job summary

Commander, Navy Installations Command in Millington, TN seeks a Headquarters Accountant to support the NAF Financial Management Branch. You will prepare and analyze accounting data, reconcile ledgers, and assist with MTP and benefit programs.

The role requires knowledge of accounting principles, payroll analysis, and experience with SAP, AIMS, Kronos, or similar systems. Collaboration with auditors and HR is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices.
• Knowledge of import/export functions and ability to transport files between systems.
• Knowledge of the Military Ticket Program (MTP).
• Knowledge of Central Fund bank account policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of the MYCAA program.
• Knowledge of the JPMC PaymentNet system.
• Knowledge of Federal government regulations for benefit plans.
• Knowledge of CNIC structure and mission.
• Skill in payroll process analysis.
• Skill in SAP accounting, KRONOS, ADP payroll, or AIMS.
• Skill in preparing General Journal entries.
• Skill in collections tasks.
• Skill in Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to analyze and prepare clear reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, analyzes, interprets and presents accounting data.
• Reviews financial transactions for accuracy and fixes discrepancies.
• Uses accounting information to recommend solutions to management problems.
• Performs system maintenance and training including cost centers, hierarchies, and GL account changes.
• Guides AIMS Financial Management System users at all levels.
• Works with auditors during audit engagements and provides information as needed.
• Coordinates audit support with region business offices.
• Develops, reviews and revises NAF accounting policies.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts.
• Serves as SME for the Military Ticket Program accounting function.
• Ensures accurate, timely accounting statements and reports for the MTP.
• Initiates collection efforts for MTP receivables.
• Coordinates AP/AR processes.
• Transports files between systems via import/export functions.
• Prepares General Journal entries for Central Fund bank transactions.
• Processes MYCAA invoices; reviews payment documents.
• Reconciles payments from schools and PaymentNet; reports discrepancies.
• Guides HR to ensure benefit plan financials comply with regulations.
• Validates and reconciles third-party benefit administrator financials.
