Job summary

First Surgical is seeking a dedicated and compassionate CNA to join our blended-care healthcare team on a fast-paced general surgical unit. The role focuses on high-quality, evidence-based patient care for diverse populations in a 27-bed unit.

You will work closely with RNs, LPNs, and Nurse Externs to support ADLs, mobility, wound care, and essential monitoring while maintaining patient rights and safety at all times.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Nursing Assistant Level I certification.
• AHA CPR required.
• Previous healthcare experience is an asset but not required; new grads are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and move patients as necessary.
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Help patients with mobility by aiding with walking, turning, repositioning, and transferring between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and report any abnormalities to the nurse.
• Support nursing staff in providing basic medical care, such as changing wound dressings and assisting with medical equipment.
• Observe patients for changes in condition or behavior and report any concerns promptly to the nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care provided in accordance with facility policies.
• Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients as directed.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Uphold patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapist, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Comply with infection control protocols and all relevant health and safety regulations.
