Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a hands-on North America Casualty Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter to underwrite and manage a portfolio of North American General Casualty and Workers Compensation Treaty Reinsurance business. You will work with cross‑functional teams to evaluate treaty economics, terms and conditions, and drive profitable growth with cedents and brokers.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated casualty underwriting and reinsurance underwriting experience.
• Experience with General Casualty and Workers Compensation lines.
• Pricing concepts and working with actuarial teams to price treaties.
• Ability to assess exposure, loss data, and treaty economics.
• Strong communication of complex concepts to executives.

Responsibilities

• Originate, analyze, price, structure, negotiate, and underwrite North America general casualty and workers' compensation treaty business.
• Manage renewals and new business across proportional and non-proportional treaty structures.
• Assess cedent strategy, risk controls, and performance to develop underwriting views.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, finance, and legal teams on treaty terms and conditions.
• Build relationships with reinsurance intermediaries and cedent clients to drive profitable growth.
• Monitor market conditions and casualty loss drivers to adapt strategy.
• Prepare underwriting referrals, portfolio updates, and governance communications.
• Travel to service clients, meet brokers, conduct audits, and attend industry events.
