Job summary

The NAVBASE San Diego is seeking a bartender to work in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The role is based at NBSD Mainbrace, mixing and serving a limited selection of beverages for patrons.

The incumbent must handle cash, perform basic arithmetic, and maintain excellent customer relations while following written and oral instructions. Some exposure to pre-mixed and exotic drinks is required.

Job description

This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as bartender, which mixes and serves a limited variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Incumbent is assigned to NBSD Mainbrace.

• The incumbent is required to have the knowledge and skill to mix and serve beverages.
• The incumbent must have the ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed.
  Knowledge of cash handling skills, ability to calculate and use basic arithmetic.
• Be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Some pre-mixed beverages, such as daiquiris, are served; however, beverages of an exotic variety are also prepared.
• The incumbent must have knowledge of the correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages.
