Job summary

The City of Lakeland seeks a semi-skilled Traffic Control Technician to calculate and place traffic control devices and barricades in accordance with MUTCD standards, ensuring public and worker safety in the traffic control zone.

Responsibilities include flagging at utility sites, operating traffic control equipment, performing daily inspections, and potentially training to support departmental initiatives. Position may require overtime and is mission critical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age by date of hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Flag at electric and water utility work sites in all weather.
• Control traffic patterns and place signs/barricades per MUTCD.
• Maintain tools, signs and equipment.
• Operate traffic control trucks, generators and arrow boards.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections.
