Job summary

St. Patrick Parish, a parish of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, seeks a dedicated musician to provide music for a weekly school Mass, grounded in Catholic liturgical tradition and aimed at encouraging active participation by students and the school community.

The ideal candidate will lead and accompany congregational singing, select appropriate selections with staff, and ensure music remains prayerful and reverent within a Catholic school setting.

Qualifications

• A strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and the role of music in the Mass.
• Familiarity with Catholic liturgical music, including hymns, psalms, and Mass settings.
• Proficiency on an appropriate instrument, such as piano or organ, and/or demonstrated vocal ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate music for a weekly school Mass in accordance with the Catholic liturgical tradition.
• Select and lead music that supports the liturgy and encourages the active participation of students and the congregation.

Job Summary

St. Patrick Parish, a parish of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and talented musician to provide music for one of the school Masses held during the week. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Catholic liturgical music and a passion for supporting the prayerful participation of students and the school community through music.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate music for a weekly school Mass in accordance with the Catholic liturgical tradition.
• Select and lead music that supports the liturgy and encourages the active participation of students and the congregation.
• Provide accompaniment and/or vocal leadership for congregational singing, as appropriate.
• Collaborate with parish and school staff to coordinate music selections in keeping with the liturgical season, readings, and celebrations.
• Ensure that music is prayerful, reverent, and appropriate for a Catholic school setting.
• Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled Masses.

Job Requirements

• A strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and the role of music in the Mass.
• Familiarity with Catholic liturgical music, including hymns, psalms, and Mass settings.
• Proficiency on an appropriate instrument, such as piano or organ, and/or demonstrated vocal ability.
• Ability to lead music in a manner that engages students and encourages congregational participation.
• Dependability, professionalism, and a commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
• Previous experience providing music for Catholic liturgies is preferred.
