Job summary

Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking a Music Therapist to organize and implement a therapy program addressing the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of patients. The role involves designing and conducting individual and group sessions and coordinating with the care team.

Day shift, full-time, 40 hours/week (Mon-Fri), 1 weekend/month, 1 holiday/year, at Barnes Jewish Hospital (Behavioral Health Department). Salary and benefits offered; BS in Music Therapy and BCMT required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy required.
• Board Certified Music Therapist.
• 2-5 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

This role works independently to complete patient assessments and facilitate therapeutic live music groups, with guitar or piano preferred. The Activity Therapist will join a collaborative team of Activity Therapists and Behavioral Associates and help engage patients through a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities in a well-equipped recreation space overlooking Forest Park.

• Full Time - 40 Hours Per Week, M-F, 1 weekend/month, 1 holiday/year
• Day Shift: 8am-430pm

• Minimum Requirement:
• BS in Music Therapy

Role Purpose

Organizes and implements a music therapy program to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of patients.

Responsibilities

• Uses music therapy as a process that combines the verbally transcendent and emotionally authentic aspects of music with the needs of the patient.
• Serves as a resource person and guide providing musical experiences that will aid in patient care.
• Designs and conducts music sessions for individuals and groups, based on client needs.
• Coordinates therapy with other team members and shares response to music therapy intervention.
