Music Therapist – Use Music to Care for LA Seniors with Dementia

About Us:

All Seniors Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non‑profit committed to improving the quality of life for older adults across Los Angeles County. We provide medical care, in‑home support, hospice and palliative care, cancer navigation, and 200‑plus other free services to qualifying seniors. Every service is delivered at no cost, regardless of insurance status.

Role Overview:

As Music Therapist, you will provide evidence‑based music therapy interventions for seniors with dementia, depression, hospice patients, and stroke recovery. You will work in homes and community settings, using personalized music to evoke memory, reduce agitation, and support quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct music therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Deliver one‑on‑one and group music therapy sessions in homes, adult day programs, and hospice settings
  • Use personalized playlists for dementia patients (per Music & Memory evidence‑based protocols)
  • Document clinical progress against measurable goals (mood, agitation, communication, engagement)
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, social workers, and chaplains on integrated care plans
  • Train family caregivers on therapeutic music use at home
Qualifications:
  • MT-BC (Music Therapist – Board Certified) credential required
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Music Therapy
  • 1+ years clinical music therapy experience; geriatric, dementia, or hospice preferred
  • Strong therapeutic relationship and assessment skills
  • Proficiency on at least one instrument (guitar, piano, voice)
