Summary

This position offers an opportunity for a dynamic music educator with diverse skills to provide general music instruction in grades K-5. Depending on the school assignment, elementary music teaching may focus on vocal/choral or instrumental music.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred
• Ability to handle complex issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Effective use of technology

Desired Qualifications:

• Excellent musicianship
• Training in methodologies like Orff, Kodaly, Gordon, etc.
• Proficient piano skills
• Knowledge of musical styles, composers, and history
• Willingness to promote a music culture in the school community

Responsibilities

• Teach K-5 General Music
• Conduct 4th/5th grade chorus and band
• Lead orchestra activities
• Provide recorder instruction for 3rd grade
• Conduct 4th and 5th-grade choruses and bands
• Direct the annual 5th Grade Musical (stipend available)
• Collaborate with other music teachers
• Maintain punctuality and reliability
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work Environment:

• Primarily in a school/classroom setting
• Moderate noise level
• Regular attendance required

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, standing, sitting, talking, hearing
• Bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling
• Mobility within the school building
• Setting up chairs and risers for concerts
• Lift objects up to 25 pounds
