Music Teacher - (Middle School General Music)

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic General Music Teacher to join our team as part of the Fine and Performing Arts Expansion at New Bedford Public Schools. Our commitment is to an inclusive curriculum and a community that reflects our diverse student body. The music program aims to inspire creativity, cultural expression, and belonging among students.

Position: Music Teacher - Middle School General Music

Qualifications:

• Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General, All Levels
• Knowledge of secondary music education methods, including choral pedagogy and general music
• Experience directing student bands and preparing for performances
• Ability to design and implement engaging lessons aligned with MA Frameworks for Music
• Positive classroom management skills, responsiveness to student diversity, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Piano experience preferred

Terms of Employment:

• Reports to: CDAM of the Arts
• Rate: In accordance with the Unit A contract
