Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community members.
• Prepare students for school, pyramid, and outside performance opportunities.
• Participate in the yearly pyramid festival for feeder schools.
• Provide effective communication between school staff, Arts Education Supervisor, students, parents, and community.
• Be flexible, dependable, and highly organized.
• Work with a diverse community of learners and effectively collaborate with the fine arts team.
• Maintain the music website and provide outreach to grow the program.
• Work cohesively with others, meet timelines, and deliver a minimum of 2 school-based performances.
• Attend county-wide Arts Education professional development.
• Provide a choral pullout program for grades 4/5.
• Stay current with arts-related technology and best practices.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Successful teaching experience and curricular knowledge in music education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure endorsed in music.
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education is preferred but not required.
