Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning is seeking a Music Specialist for the School Age Program. The role involves teaching music in an ungraded self-contained classroom, developing curriculum aligned with NYS standards, and coordinating with therapists and teachers to support students with developmental disabilities.

The program runs on a 12-month calendar and offers rich training and benefits. The position requires NYS teacher certification in Music and a relevant degree, with Monday–Friday, 8 am–3 pm

Qualifications

• Must possess a bachelor's or master's degree and NYS teacher certification in Music.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to sing and play musical instruments (keyboard and/or guitar) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts Music classes to all classrooms as assigned and scheduled.
• Develops and implements curriculum consistent with NYS requirements for Music.
• Collaborates with Therapists and classroom staff to facilitate cooperative learning and skill-building.
• Prepares session notes and plans for music sessions and maintains records.
