Job summary

Center for Family Life is seeking an Activity Specialist – Music for PS169 in Brooklyn. This non-exempt, part-time position supports school-based programming during the school year with $30/hour pay, and reports to the Program Director/Supervisor.

Responsibilities include designing music curricula, instructing vocal music, and coordinating performances with a multidisciplinary team. Requires a Bachelor's Degree and strong vocal/music skills; bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Demonstrable strong vocal music instruction background.
• Skilled in piano and/or guitar accompaniment.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience working with youth of all ages.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Bilingual: English/Mandarin/Cantonese or English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design age-appropriate, standards-based music curricula for groups of elementary-aged youth in afterschool and summer programs.
• Provide weekly vocal music instruction and lead activities for youth.
• Incorporate NYS Learning Standards for the Arts and NYS Next Generation Learning Standards into music curriculum.
• Submit weekly lesson plans for all music activities.
• Attend field trips and off-site activities around NYC.
• Collaborate with participants to compose and perform songs and arrangements.
• Plan and coordinate program-wide performances.
• Support events and staff development activities.
• Participate in weekly professional development meetings.
