Job summary

Vassar College's Music Library Specialist role is a full-time, in-person union position (42 weeks/year) reporting to the Music Librarian. You will handle music acquisitions, cataloging, and preservation tasks, coordinating with staff and vendors to ensure accurate orders and records.

You will process invoices and manage materials, support daily desk operations, and supervise student employees while contributing to a busy, service-oriented library environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
• Strong computer skills with Google Suite and Microsoft Word; able to learn additional systems.
• Ability to provide public services in a high-traffic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Place, verify, and receive orders for music materials.
• Process invoices in the library services platform (LSP).
• Troubleshoot problems and preserve materials according to protocols.
• Prepare and repair materials for use by musicians; assist with bindery shipments.
• Supervise student employees, including training and task assignments.
• Prepare reports and statistics for the Music Librarian.
