Job summary

DA Brand is seeking a Music Lesson Instructor to teach private instrumental and/or vocal lessons and occasionally coach student ensembles, reporting to the Director of Music and collaborating with the Music Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities include teaching private lessons to students in grades 9-12 with varying experience, coaching ensembles, performing alongside students, and handling administrative duties like scheduling, attendance records, and weekly timesheets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in music required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1–3 years teaching private music lessons; experience teaching adolescents preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work with ensembles; demonstrated success leading ensembles preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a professional performing musician required.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving a diverse community.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate the lesson schedule to students.
  • Maintain excellent records of private lessons taught as well as student attendance.
  • Submit weekly timesheets to the Music Program Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Submit End of Term information (number of lessons taught, number of unexcused lessons, if any) to the Music Program Coordinator.
  • Attend meetings scheduled by Music Director and/or Music Program Coordinator.

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Music and collaborating with the Music Program Coordinator, the Music Lesson Instructor teaches private instrumental and/or vocal music lessons and occasionally coaches student ensembles.

At this time, we are searching for instructors who teach:

  • Violin/Viola
  • Voice
  • Bassoon

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teach private lessons to students with a varying range of experience across grade levels 9-12
  • Coaching ensembles as needed throughout the school year
  • Perform alongside students in ensembles as needed throughout the year

Administrative Duties:

  • Clearly communicate the lesson schedule to students
  • Maintain excellent records of private lessons taught as well as student attendance
  • Submit weekly timesheets to the Music Program Coordinator as appropriate
  • Submit End of Term information (number of lessons taught, number of unexcused lessons, if any) to the Music Program Coordinator
  • Attend meetings scheduled by Music Director and/or Music Program Coordinator

Physical Job Demands

  • Ability to frequently stand and/or sit for sustained periods of time

  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry/push up to 10 pounds

Working Conditions

  • The worker is mainly in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
