BRAVO Music Program at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School is seeking an experienced Music Director to teach, lead, and refine music for upcoming full-scale musical theater productions. This after-school contractor role requires strong piano and vocal skills, reading scores, and the ability to guide students with clarity and confidence.

Rehearsals run Monday-Friday after school with some Saturdays; the MD works with the core team to ensure artistic vision is realized while upholding equity

Qualifications

• Strong piano and vocal skills with ability to read scores.
• Experience in musical theater or music education with middle school students.
• Ability to lead rehearsals and collaborate with the creative team.

Responsabilités

• Teach, lead, and refine music for full-scale productions and vocal parts.
• Collaborate with director, choreographer, and staff to support artistic vision.
• Plan rehearsals, prepare materials, and develop organized schedules.
• Lead rehearsals with piano skills and provide individualized coaching.
• Coordinate sound needs, mic assignments, and sound checks during tech and shows.
• Support tech week and performances within the production budget.
• Be reliable, punctual, organized, and professional in all tasks.
• Tidy working areas and ensure spaces are secure after rehearsals.
