Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Tourism's Culture Center Museums Team is seeking a Collections Coordinator to assist with all aspects of collection management under the Director of Museums. You will handle registration, cataloging, storage, conservation, and preservation for the State Museum, maintain records and accession files, and coordinate a centralized digital cataloging system.

You will also support exhibits during installation and engage with West Virginia communities through outreach.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Museum Studies, Art History, Archaeology or a related field.
• Two years of previous work or internships in a museum or heritage setting; experience with collections management systems and/or Proficio preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of collection management and policy development.
• Maintain records, inventories, accession files, loan agreements, and related documents.
• Coordinate the centralized digital cataloging system and ensure data entry of collection records.
• Assist exhibits staff during installation to protect the collection and follow professional guidelines.
• Support outreach and technical assistance to West Virginia communities.
