West Virginia State Museum seeks a Cultural Facilities Manager for West Virginia Independence Hall in Wheeling to oversee daily operations, building and grounds maintenance, and staff supervision.

You will coordinate events, manage budgets, liaise with staff and volunteers, and ensure exceptional visitor experiences while complying with state policies. Some evenings and weekends required; remote work not permitted.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to lead staff, volunteers, and other groups.
• Excellent customer service skills and strong written/oral communication.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement in critical decisions.
• Experience analyzing information and developing improvement plans.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and museum best practices.

Responsabilités

• Inspects the condition of the facility.
• Arranges for repairs or modifications as necessary.
• Oversees all events and programming at the facility.
• Supervises volunteers and full-time or seasonal staff.
• Reports to the Director of the State Museum to obtain approval for projects.
• Coordinates purchasing for items and services needed at the site.
• Reports site data, such as visitation and other metrics, to the Director of the State Museum.
• Represents the facility at meetings and events.
• Works closely with the Tourism Marketing team on promotional materials for events at the facility.
• Prepares and writes justification for facility budget.
• Monitors spending within the site’s budget.
• Implements all policies and procedures as required.
• Conducts tours of the facility.
• Works with Retail Manager on presentation and contents of gift shop.
• Responsible for State Purchasing Card for site.
• Other duties as assigned.
