Job summary

City of Foley’s Museums & Heritage Department seeks a Museum Attendant to provide visitor services and operational support. The role primarily covers Saturdays at the Foley Railroad Museum, assisting with guest services, gift shop operations, and loading passengers onto the event train.

Occasional weekday shifts at the Foley Railroad Museum or Holmes Medical Museum may be needed to help prepare trains, open/close facilities, and assist with events and attendance records, reporting issues to the

Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of related experience.
Successful applicants must have a valid driver's license and pass a criminal background check, driving record, and a pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

Greets visitors and provides information about exhibits, hours, and local attractions.
Assists passengers with boarding the event train and ensures safety procedures are followed.
Operates as the event train loader, managing boarding lines and communicating with the train driver.
Operates the gift shop POS system and processes cash and card transactions.
Stocks and displays gift shop merchandise and maintains receipts.
Regularly monitors the outdoor donation box and reports security or maintenance concerns.
Opens and closes museum facilities and records attendance for events.
Reports safety hazards, equipment problems, and unusual incidents to the Museums Manager.
