Job summary

Cranbrook Educational Community's Cranbrook Art Museum seeks a part-time Visitor Services Representative to welcome visitors, answer inquiries, and support gallery operations. You will engage the public, assist with memberships, and help ensure a welcoming, safe environment for exhibitions and campus programs.

The role requires strong customer service, the ability to work evenings and weekends, and comfort with front desk POS and visitor data entry. Training on museum software is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (BFA or MFA strongly preferred).
• Customer service experience required.
• Able to work with the public, school personnel, students and volunteers with enthusiasm.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Computer experience required; training on specialized software provided.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage museum visitors, orientate them to the facility and current exhibitions.
• Perform Gallery Educator duties, engage visitors, provide information on artworks and campus history.
• Handle front desk duties including POS and entry of visitor information and fees.
• Sell museum memberships and process applications.
• Answer front desk telephone and email with accurate information.
• Keep lobby, reception, storage, and galleries clean and orderly.
• Navigate multiple levels and assist visitors with handicapped restrictions or strollers via elevator.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and inventory checklist procedures.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality per employee handbook.
