Job summary

The Norton Museum of Art seeks a detail-oriented Museum Retail Store Operations Assistant to manage inventory processes, merchandise receiving, and stock organization while supporting sales-floor operations and visitor experiences.

You will enter and maintain inventory data in POS and inventory systems, price and label merchandise, and assist with exhibitions, programs, and special events. Strong organizational skills and experience in retail are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in retail operations, inventory control, receiving stockroom operations, merchandising support, or administrative support preferred.
• Experience with point-of-sale and inventory management systems preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, verify, and process incoming merchandise shipments against purchase orders and packing documentation.
• Price, tag, label, prepare, and organize merchandise for the sales floor, stockrooms, exhibitions, programs, and special events.
• Maintain clean, orderly stockrooms and storage areas, including the off-site storage location.
• Replenish sales-floor merchandise and communicate low-stock, out-of-stock, and reorder needs to retail management.
• Provide sales-floor and point-of-sale support during peak visitation, staff coverage needs, member programs, exhibition openings, and Museum events.
