Job summary

Adler Planetarium seeks a Full-Time Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain and repair building systems on Chicago’s Museum Campus. You will handle mechanical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure proper temperatures while coordinating with external vendors.

The role is unionized with IUOE Local 399 and requires a current Chicago license, with a 40-hour weekly schedule and a $43.00/hr pay rate under the bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current City of Chicago Stationary Building Engineer License.
• 1–2 years of stationary engineer experience.
• Ability to multitask and troubleshoot under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across building systems.
• Provide preventative maintenance on all building systems.
• Maintain proper building temperatures throughout the year.
• Coordinate with exterior mechanical vendors and manage work orders.
