Job summary

The Adler Planetarium in Chicago, IL seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the stationary engineer team and oversee daily facility operations, maintenance, and safety standards. You will manage building systems, plan capital projects, and collaborate with leadership on utility management and contractor agreements.

This is a union role (IUOE Local 399) with a strong emphasis on safety and reliable operations. Ideal candidates have a City of Chicago Stationary Engineer license and 5+ years of leadership

Qualifications

• Current City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License is required.
• Minimum 5 years as a licensed Stationary Engineer.
• Experience with building automation, CMMS, and office software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
• Lead stationary engineers; assign and track work orders.
• Collaborate on capital projects and utility management.
