Job summary

The Barnes Shop at The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, PA seeks a Shop Sales Specialist to deliver consistent, superior customer service and to sell products that support the educational and revenue goals of the Barnes Shop.

You will greet customers, answer questions about the store and its merchandise, operate the point‑of‑sale system, process transactions, balance drawers, and promote memberships to visitors.

Qualifications

• Previous retail sales experience preferred.
• Comfort with handling money and receipts.
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
• Willingness to work weekends/evenings/holidays.
• Background or knowledge in history or fine arts is a plus.
• Bi-lingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and answers questions about the store and its merchandise.
• Operates POS transactions including cash, checks and card payments, counts money, provides receipts, and balances drawer.
• Identifies and promotes memberships to visitors and engages higher levels of engagement.
• Follows Shop procedures for opening/closing tasks.
• Maintains selling floor in a fully stocked and visually presentable condition.
• Delivers consistent levels of customer service that reflect positively on the Foundation and the Shop.
• Provides feedback on daily operations to supervisors at shift end.
• Attends departmental meetings and contributes to operational improvements.
• Adheres to Foundation policies including attendance, punctuality, and dress code.
