Job summary

Newfields in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Safety Associate to support front-line security across the galleries, Lilly House, and surrounding grounds. The role requires vigilance, excellent customer service, and reporting of any unauthorized activity.

You will be cross-trained to assist with screening processes, monitor guest flow at security checkpoints, and respond to emergencies following established procedures while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and ability to complete required security training.
• Basic email proficiency and ability to communicate electronically.
• Ability to read, comprehend instructions, and present information clearly.
• Basic arithmetic using whole numbers and decimals; able to use military time.

Responsibilities

• Stand and walk for long durations during shifts.
• Complete daily art inventory.
• Post and rove gallery spaces to deter damage and observe guests.
• Report incidents, accidents, or emergencies as required.
• Respond to emergencies including medical and alarms.
• Follow security procedures for fires, safety, and access controls.
• Record daily activities and irregularities in logs.
• Monitor guest flow through metal detectors.
• Assist guests with inquiries and museum rules professionally.
