Florida International University’s museum seeks a dedicated Museum Preparator to support exhibition planning, production and installation, working with collections and conservation teams in a dynamic gallery environment.

The role includes overseeing art handling for 2-D and 3-D works, building walls and casework, maintaining shop inventory and coordinating with vendors, while ensuring safety and compliance with FIU guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience.
• Experience in art handling and working in a museum or gallery setting preferred.
• Knowledge of mounting for museum objects and safe handling practices.

Responsabilités

• Oversees art handling and transport for exhibit installation, research requests, collections review, and photography.
• Assists with exhibition production, including building walls, platforms, casework, vitrines, object and book mounts; maintains shop inventory and supplies.
• Maintains collections storage organization, retrieves works on request, and coordinates with conservation and library teams.
