Job summary

Cantor Arts Center on the Stanford University campus seeks a Community Learning and Engagement Associate to develop and administer in-gallery learning and engagement programs for public and K-12 tours; this role also supports outreach to volunteers and the public beyond Stanford.

Reporting to the Director of Academic & Public Programs, you will recruit and train volunteers, coordinate tours and talks, collaborate across teams, and build evaluation methods to grow attendance and participation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce in-gallery learning and engagement programs for the Cantor Arts Center, including public and K-12 touring programs and other opportunities to foster participation and exchange for museum visitors.
• Provide recruitment, training, oversight, and direction to volunteers, student workers, and staff who facilitate tours and other in-gallery engagement programs.
• Steward the volunteer Museum Engagement Guide program.
• Lead community outreach to diverse local, regional and global communities for the museum—primarily to volunteers and visitors from outside the campus community—to expand learning and engagement.
• Develop best practices for touring and in-gallery engagement programs and act as an in-house resource for policies and procedures related to Community Learning and Engagement.
• Schedule tours and curator talks within the collection galleries and temporary exhibitions.
• Communicate regarding Community Learning and Engagement Programs and tour schedules with museum staff.
• Collaborate to develop curriculum for K-12 programs and teacher professional development.
• Support the Cantor Student Guide program and schedule student employees.
• Coordinate with Anderson Collection staff to foster co-organized programs.
• Develop evaluation methods for Community Learning and Engagement Programs.
