Job summary

Aspen Art Museum is seeking a Guide to be the first point of contact for visitors, sharing information about current exhibitions, programs, and the building’s layout. You will welcome guests, orient them to galleries, cafe, shop, and key architectural features.

The role supports visitor service and security, helps observe and report safety concerns, assists with crowd flow, and stays alert during shifts. This hourly, non-exempt position requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of customer/guest service work experience, preferably in security, museums, art galleries, or similar environments.
• Experience in security, museums, or galleries is preferred.
• Ability to interact with diverse visitors professionally and courteously.
• Ability to stand for long periods and stay alert during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, orient, and direct visitors while discussing current and upcoming exhibitions, artists, and programs.
• Introduce the building’s layout, including galleries, sculpture garden, cafe, shop, and architectural features.
• Explain the museum’s programs, memberships, education, and events schedule.
• Staff galleries as assigned and cover the service desk when needed.
• Observe visitors and report safety concerns to security personnel as required.
• Guide visitors to place personal belongings in the coat room when appropriate.
• Assist in emergency situations with crowd control and evacuation.
• Provide general local information (directions, transportation, parking).
