Job summary

The Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills, MI is seeking a part-time Building Operations Associate responsible for maintaining facilities, setting up and tearing down spaces for exhibitions and events, and basic maintenance tasks.

You will monitor building conditions, assist with cleaning, grounds-keeping, and safety compliance, with 20-28 hours per week including evenings and Sundays; onsite role in a nonprofit museum environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in facilities or building maintenance preferred.
• Ability to learn plumbing/electrical/carpentry basics.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down furniture and materials for exhibitions and events.
• Perform basic maintenance such as changing bulbs and minor repairs.
• Monitor building conditions and report issues.
• Assist with daily upkeep of galleries, offices, restrooms, and storage.
• Help with trash, recycling, and restocking supplies.
• Support climate and environmental standards to protect artifacts.
• Follow safety procedures and health regulations.
• Provide courteous support to staff, visitors, and vendors.
• Maintain routine operations of main floor tech and equipment.
