Job summary

Seattle Art Museum is seeking an Environmental Services and Event Support Assistant to perform daily janitorial duties and assist with event setup across all sites. The role requires attention to detail, reliable English communication, and the ability to operate cleaning equipment, with occasional on-call and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• One year experience in janitorial/environmental services in a commercial, institutional, hospitality, or healthcare setting.
• Orientation towards customer service.
• Excellent housekeeping skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Ability to operate environmental services equipment.
• Ability to understand, read, write and speak English clearly in person and over radio system.
• Communicate reliably via email and text messaging.
• Ability to learn policies and procedures as applicable to Environmental Services duties and knowledge of the protection and preservation of works of art.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to interact with the public and with co-workers professionally and tactfully.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to pass and maintain security background check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties and general cleaning across the facility.
• Stock supplies in restrooms and throughout the facility.
• Support event setup and teardown as needed.
• Provide cleanup during events and post-event restoration.
• Operate cleaning equipment and ensure safe handling of chemicals.
• Assist with light maintenance and report issues to supervisor.
• Maintain communication with event coordinators and security staff during events.
