Job summary

The Palmetto Historical Park division of the Historical Resources Department is hiring an Education & Engagement Coordinator. This role focuses on visitor services, memberships, volunteer coordination, and marketing support for exhibits and programs.

You will lead public programming, plan group and school tours, and create digital educational content while delivering excellent customer service to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and office software.
• Strong attention to detail in data management and filing.
• Ability to operate general office equipment.
• 1 year recent experience with data accuracy in automated systems.
• Knowledge of marketing principles and social media usage.
• Ability to develop and implement educational activities.
• Experience teaching adults and children.
• Familiarity with education concepts or field trips.
• Experience creating digital education content.
• Public speaking experience is preferred.
• Valid Florida driver’s license is required.
• Regular attendance, including some weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service in person, by email, and over the phone.
• Greet visitors and assist with directions and tours as needed.
• Share museum information, rules, and current programs with visitors.
• Enforce museum policies in a firm but friendly manner.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate group and school tours.
• Support educational outreach programs, including digital formats.
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Assist with volunteer recruitment, retention, and direction.
• Engage in public speaking about local and Florida history.
• Assist planning and evaluating public programming and events.
• Pursue outreach opportunities and coordinate participation.
• Support marketing activities and maintain online profiles.
• Handle administrative duties and visitation data entry.
• Support special events, facility operations, and custodial duties.
• Collaborate with a small team and accept constructive feedback.
