Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission seeks a Curator to oversee Ephrata Cloister's collections, including ~4,000 artifacts, and to interpret the site’s 18th–19th century history for visitors.

You will manage acquisitions, loans, cataloging, and research, and contribute to tours and public programs at this nationally significant site in Lancaster County.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in American History with museum studies coursework or internship.
• Experience in curatorial work in History or Decorative Arts or related fields.
• Knowledge of museum collections management software and archives is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle acquisitions, deaccessions, loans, cataloging, and inventorying of artifacts and archival materials.
• Store, care for, and provide access to collection items.
• Research site history and respond to public inquiries to contextualize pieces.
• Prepare interpretive materials to help visitors understand artifacts and history.
• Assist with planning and leading tours on historic topics.
