Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis is seeking a Husbandry Technician I to provide daily care for murine models and support routine and specialized housing environments.

Responsibilities include routine cage changes, feeding and watering, and documenting activities in accordance with SOPs. The role may involve work in quarantine, SPF production areas, or biohazard containment, with emphasis on welfare and coordination with ARC staff and external researchers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Experience in murine husbandry care or veterinary facility or related field preferred.
• Some experience with disinfection, sterilization, sanitation, and environmental microbiological analysis preferred.
• Some experience with changes in model species health conditions preferred.
• Some experience operating model species caging and sanitation equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned murine husbandry tasks with guidance (e.g., maintenance of model species holding & procedure rooms; routine sanitation; food and water supply & drug dosing management; scheduled cage changing).
• Perform routine techniques on murine model (e.g., treatments, formalin fixation) as per defined guidelines.
• Assist in veterinary treatments on research models, special observations, and other study-directed requests.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records as required.
• Escalate issues and problems according to set standards and SOPs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
