Job summary

City of Keizer is seeking a Municipal Utility Worker I in Stormwater to join the Public Works department. The role focuses on maintaining the City’s stormwater drainage system, including cleaning, inspections, repairs, and responding to customer concerns.

This in-person position requires a strong work ethic and teamwork in a hands-on environment. The role offers a competitive monthly salary, benefits, and a 5% language incentive for Spanish-speaking candidates.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • One year of full‑time experience in road, water, sewer, stormwater, or general construction (e.g. concrete work, roofing, framing, masonry, carpentry, finish work, heavy equipment operation); or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position.
  • Valid Oregon driver license; and Residence must be within a 35‑minute drive time to City shops.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and repair catch basins, storm pipes, manhole vaults, and covers.
  • Recognize, respond to, and report illicit discharges that may affect stormwater quality.
  • Conduct field investigations to determine the nature and origin of stormwater pollutants.
  • Investigate storm drainage issues and recommend corrective actions to resolve concerns efficiently.
  • Conduct field inventory and inspection of the City’s stormwater drainage system.
  • Read and interpret plans, maps, and designs.

About the Role

As a Municipal Utility Worker in the Stormwater Operations & Street Division, you will play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and improving the City’s stormwater drainage system. This hands‑on position focuses on storm drain cleaning, infrastructure inspection, repair, and responding to stormwater‑related customer concerns.

Pay & Benefits
  • Monthly Salary: $4,604 - $6,008 plus duty pay, as applicable.
