Job summary

The Town of Bedford, NH is seeking a Town Engineer to assist the Department Director and Environmental Coordinator with the technical aspects of the Public Works Department, including highways, landfill, sewer, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.

Responsibilities include developing CIP plans, reviewing site plans, supervising staff, and managing projects from design to construction while ensuring compliance with NH regulations and stormwater programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (NH) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• 3+ years of municipal public works/management experience.
• Valid NH driver’s license; GIS and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in developing and administering the Public Works CIP and related plans.
• Review site and subdivision plans; support stormwater and land disturbance permits.
• Provide supervisory oversight; interview, train, plan, assign and direct staff.
