The City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled Security Engineer to protect city infrastructure, networks, and data. This role focuses on CJIS compliance and modern security architecture, with a passion for automation and scripting to improve efficiency.

You'll design security solutions, monitor for incidents, and collaborate with IT teams across the department. A hybrid work option may be available, with opportunities to grow in municipal cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, CS, MIS, business admin, or related field.
• 3 years of cyber security engineering experience in a mid-sized org.
• Experience with CJIS Security Policy implementation and compliance.
• Government/public sector IT experience preferred.
• CJIS/compliance certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions to protect city infrastructure, networks, and data.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and threats across systems and applications.
• Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and penetration tests to identify risks and mitigate.
• Maintain and enforce security policies aligned with CJIS and regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into system architecture and workflows.
• Manage endpoint protection, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM/SOAR, IAM, MFA, SSO, and more.
