Job summary

Garver Engineering seeks a Municipal Project Manager to join our Transportation Team in the Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park, KS, or Kansas City, MO. The role focuses on leading municipal transportation projects, coordinating design teams, and maintaining client relationships.

The ideal candidate has a PE license in MO and KS or the ability to obtain reciprocity, at least six years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in MO and KS or ability to obtain reciprocity.
• Minimum six years of relevant experience.
• Practical knowledge of AASHTO Green Book, Roadside Design Guide, and MUTCD.
• Experience with roadway design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Project management and scheduling of transportation projects.
• Coordinate sub-consultants and plan production oversight.
• Civil design and drainage design tasks.
• Prepare cost estimates and perform quality control.
• Train engineers and build client relationships.
• Support proposals and interviews as needed.

Responsibilities

• Project management
• Sub‑consultant coordination
• Project/task scheduling
• Civil design
• Plan production oversight
• Preparing cost estimates

• Technical experience should include:
• Geometric design for roadways/intersections
• 3D design experience
• Drainage design
• Construction sequencing and traffic control
• Marketing activities may include assisting in the production of proposals, as well as participation in interviews and other presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Missouri and Kansas, or ability to obtain reciprocity
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience
• Practical working knowledge of AASHTO Green Book, Roadside Design Guide, and MUTCD
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads and/or other roadway design software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in consulting engineering with a focus on Kansas City Metro and/or Missouri municipal clients
• 3D design experience
• Utility relocation coordination experience
