Job summary

The City of Converse seeks an Information Technology Director to lead strategy, governance, and operations of municipal IT infrastructure, reporting to the City Manager. The Director oversees public safety, public works, administration, and finance, with a focus on modernizing digital systems and strengthening cybersecurity.

The ideal candidate blends strategic planning with hands-on problem solving, exceptional communication, vendor management, and incident-response leadership to ensure 24/7

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or closely related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible IT experience.
• Municipal or public-sector technology leadership experience preferred.
• Experience overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead contract and service management for DOCUmation‑supported services, monitor SLAs, costs, and security.
• Oversee telecom, mobile, AV, CCTV, and access-control systems in coordination with Police and Facilities.
• Develop a governance framework for evaluating AI in workflows with human oversight.
• Drive process improvements, change management, and staff training for new systems.
• Manage IT budget, procurement, RFPs, and vendor relationships.
