Job summary

CITY OF CONVERSE is seeking an Information Technology Director to lead and govern municipal IT. This executive role aligns IT strategy with city goals, oversees public safety, finance, and operations, and directs vendor relationships.

The ideal candidate combines strategic planning with hands-on problem solving, excellent communication, and a strong focus on security, continuity, and modernization of digital systems in a critical city environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, MIS, or related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible IT experience.
• At least four years of management/supervisory experience; municipal/public sector preferred.
• Experience with DOCUmation solutions, Barracuda networks, and ERP systems.
• Proven ability to manage vendors, budgets, and strategic IT programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT strategy, governance, and policy across city operations.
• Oversee municipal IT operations supporting public safety, admin, and finance.
• Direct vendor relations, contracts, and service levels.
• Ensure business continuity, security, and data protection.
• Coordinate after-hours support and emergency IT responses.
• Drive process improvements and modernization of digital systems.
