Job summary

The City of Augusta and Richmond County seek a seasoned General Counsel to lead the Augusta Law Department and guide all legal affairs for the consolidated government. The role partners with the Mayor, Board of Commissioners, and department leaders to advance priorities, manage risk, and uphold public trust.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate municipal law expertise, strong litigation background, and proven budgetary and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or Doctor of Laws from an accredited institution.
• Seven years of legal experience, with at least four in local government.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Law Department for the consolidated city/county government.
• Provide proactive legal counsel to the Mayor/Commission, County Administrator, and boards.
