Job summary

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate Degree required; supplemented by three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active membership in good standing with any State Bar Association; must obtain active Georgia State Bar membership within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to assigned county departments, boards, officials and employees.
• Manage litigation for county-related departments including discovery, depositions, motions, hearings and trials.
• Draft and review contracts and agreements to protect the county’s interests and limit liability.
• Represent the county in personnel matters and tax appeals; participate in legislation development and compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and procedures; train and supervise junior staff as needed.
