The City of Elizabethtown is seeking a highly responsible, salaried municipal accountant to maintain general and subsidiary accounts, prepare financial statements, and manage funds under the supervision of the Finance Director and City Treasurer. The role is new with potential promotion to City Treasurer by mid-2027.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree in accounting or finance, 5+ years of financial management experience, and CPA certification.

Qualifications

• College degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in financial management and operations.
• 5+ years accounting experience in municipal government or related position.
• CPA or related accounting certifications.
• Knowledge of municipal finance regulations and budgeting processes.
• Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
• Excellent communication in English (oral and written).
• Experience with modern office management and equipment.

Responsabilités

• Maintain general and subsidiary accounts, balance funds and bank accounts; prepare balance sheets, bond schedules and other financial statements and reports.
• Compile data for annual appropriation estimates.
• Prepare clear financial reports for City departments, audits and general requirements.
• Assist in handling grants and accounting for them.
• Assist in budget preparation and disburse funds; sign checks as prescribed.
• Participate in Finance Department training to cover for staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned and stay current on GASB regulations.
• Attend continuing education related to Occupational Tax collection as paid by the City.
