Job summary

Talentify is seeking an Accountant under the Deputy Director of Finance to maintain and analyze the City’s accounting records in accordance with GAAP and applicable governmental accounting standards. The role will prepare financial reports, perform reconciliations, assist with investments, debt service, pension accounting, and support budgeting and audits with strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from accredited college.
• Four years of professional accounting experience, governmental experience preferred.
• Excel proficiency with data analysis and reconciliation.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze financial information; prepare and review journal entries and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations; assist with investment accounting.
• Review contracts, purchase orders, invoices, vouchers, and supporting documentation for accurate accounting.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly billings for services; maintain revenue and accounts receivable records.
• Prepare annual records for special assessments and solid waste charges; submit information to the property appraiser.
• Prepare schedules, account analyses for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and audits.
• Follow internal controls; report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Assist with capital asset accounting and reconciliations of assets to the general ledger.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation; coordinate with departments, auditors, vendors, and the public.
