Job summary

City of Mason seeks a professional in municipal finance to administer Finance Department policies and operations. The role requires judgment, initiative, and technical knowledge; may act as Finance Director in the Director’s absence; reports to the Finance Director.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s in accounting/tax/auditing, 3–5 years municipal finance experience, ACFR prep, payroll oversight, and supervisory skills; proficient in Windows-based financial software including Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax or auditing.
• 3–5 years municipal finance and accounting or auditing experience.
• Combined education and experience will be considered.
• Municipal tax experience.
• ACFR preparation experience.
• Three or more years of supervisory experience.
• Broad knowledge of Ohio tax code.
• Auditing principles and financial management software experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct Finance Department activities.
• Prepare ACFR and oversee payroll operations for compliance.
• Advise public and agencies on policies and regulations.
• Oversee budget preparation and intent, with timely reporting.
• Assist external auditors during independent audits.
• Administer fixed asset program and financial reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate department staff; meet civic groups.
• Coordinate tax administration and seasonal tax work.
