Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. A master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
• Six to eight years of experience in government finance and treasury functions, including supervisory responsibility.
• Interpersonal skills to manage a diverse staff and collaborate at all City levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to groups including City Council.
• Leadership skills to formulate plans, provide strategic direction, and guide the department.
• Mental ability to handle deadlines and multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds when needed.

• Supervise the Finance Office daily operations and manage Treasury and Property Assessing functions.

Job description

Under the general direction of the City Manager, responsible for the overall financial management of the City. Supervises the daily operations of the Finance Office and manages the Treasury and Property Assessing function in compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.

1. The job requires knowledge acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A master’s degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.

2. Six to eight years of experience in government finance and treasury functions, including supervisory responsibility.

3. Interpersonal skills necessary to manage the activities of a diverse group of employees and to work productively with all levels of City staff.

4. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. The ability to create and give presentations to a variety of groups, including City Council.

5. Leadership skills necessary to formulate plans, provide strategic direction and guide the Department toward operational success.

6. Mental ability to frequently handle pressures related to working on projects requiring attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and simultaneous management of multiple projects.

7. Physical ability to frequently sit in one position for extended periods of time and occasionally lift/push/carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
