Job summary

The City of Lemon Grove is seeking an Associate Accountant in the Finance Department. This position handles payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintains full financial records under general supervision.

Primary duties include payroll processing, tax reporting, cash management, and supporting the Finance Director. The ideal candidate has a relevant bachelor’s degree and municipal accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or public administration or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible accounting experience; municipal/government setting preferred.
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, fixed assets, and benefits reconciliations.
• Receive, audit, and process timesheets; prepare payroll and reconcile payroll liabilities.
• Prepare payroll and tax reports (quarterly and annual).
• Process warrants; prepare 1099 statements and other state/county/federal reports.
• Provide staff support to the Finance Director and oversee accounts payable.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to payroll, GL, A/P, cash receipting, and other functions.
