Job summary

NACBA is seeking a Town Attorney to provide legal advice to the Mayor, Town Council, Manager, and Town staff in Oro Valley, AZ. The role includes oversight of municipal law matters, contract review, and guidance on policy actions.

Responsibilities include representing the Town in legal proceedings, mentoring staff, preparing legal opinions, and coordinating with other departments and agencies. Requires a JD and AZ license with at least five years in civil law.

Qualifications

JD required and AZ license to practice law.
Minimum 5 years in general civil law practice.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Advise Town departments and officials on legal propriety of actions and analyze claims.
Represent Town in trials, mediations, and hearings when needed.
Back-up for Town Attorney during absences or increased workload.
Attend meetings and provide legal opinions or presentations as required.
Lead division staff including hiring, evaluation and discipline as applicable.
Draft and deliver written and verbal legal opinions and ordinances.
