Job summary
Town of Oro Valley seeks a prosecuting attorney to lead criminal and civil prosecution in the Oro Valley Town Court and related venues. Under the Town Attorney, you will coordinate cases, research legal matters, prepare opinions, and appear in court to handle proceedings.
The role requires JD with Arizona licensure and at least two years of criminal prosecution experience, with strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with police, attorneys and staff.
Qualifications
- JD required and admitted to practice in Arizona.
- Two years of criminal prosecution experience.
- Must maintain Arizona license.
- Knowledge of municipal, state and federal statutes.
Responsibilities
- Conducts legal research and prepares legal reports, papers and opinions.
- Appears in courts to prosecute criminal matters.
- Participates in plea offers and office lists.
- Manages prosecution activities and staff.
- Meets with courts, attorneys, victims, defendants, and police to discuss criminal matters.
- Oversees investigation, file review, charging, and case prep.
- Plans and implements prosecution activities and process improvements.
- Provides training related to prosecution to police and staff.
- Reviews legislation affecting criminal prosecution.
