Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and relevant inspection experience.
• Active ICC certifications in Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical or a Commercial Combination Inspector.
• Strong knowledge of California Building Standards Codes and ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of residential and commercial properties for compliance with municipal codes.
• Identify code violations related to structural, life safety, and property maintenance aspects.
• Document findings with detailed reports, photos, and case documentation.
• Issue notices of violation and outline corrective actions required.
• Perform follow-up inspections within established timelines.
• Collaborate with Building & Safety personnel and other departments to support rehabilitation initiatives.
• Maintain inspection records and enforcement actions in tracking systems.
• Provide professional customer service and explain code requirements to owners and contractors.
• Interpret construction plans and applicable building codes to ensure compliance.
• Adhere to municipal ordinances and safety regulations during inspections.
